First Responder Assistance

Behind the Badge Charities provides financial support to Fort Bend County first responders in time of family tragedy or crisis. The "10-33" Responder Assistance Fund provides need-based grants to individual first responders who have suffered injury, serious illness, or other disaster that traditional insurance or other assistance has not covered.

In order to quality for assistance, the first responder must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Current full-time employee of a Fort Bend County first responder agency

  • Current part-time employee of a Fort Bend County first responder agency

  • Currently work in an unpaid, reserve capacity for a Fort Bend County first responder agency

  • Deceased, but actively employed or working in a reserve capacity for a Fort Bend County first responder agency at time of death.

Application for Individual Grant Assistance

Compliance with Grant-Making Procedures (Grants to Individuals)
A public charity that makes grants to individuals must keep adequate records and case histories to demonstrate that such grants serve its charitable purposes.
Case histories on grants to individuals should show names, addresses, purposes of grants, manner of selection, and relationship (if any) that the recipient has with any members, officers, trustees, or donors of the organization.

 

Application must be completed by or on behalf of a qualifying first responder as described above. Applications are processed by our Benefits Committee and may be discussed at board meetings depending on the amount of assistance being considered.

Documentation to support your application (including receipts, photos, medical records, letters of support, etc) may be submitted via e-mail. Send correspondence to 1033@behindthebadgecharities.org (Include your name in the subject line as it appears on this application.)
